3D Animation Test for Cats Eyes

Becoming frustrated with working out the details for the story I took time out and returned to what I love doing most: 3D Animation.

After studying anatomical diagrams of cat's eyes I tried to replicate their functionality in the 3D environment. Cinema 4D's Python and C.O.F.F.E.E. interface are fantastic as they allow you to write scripts (code) into your animation. This has been extremely useful in this case as I was able to write the code to make the pupils automatically dilate depending on the distance of the object they are focusing on. This will make animation far easier in the long run.

Often I have found myself in the company of people facing difficulties where those around them have suffered as a result. I wonder what choices do people make that leads them into difficulty and what can be done to discourage others from making similar choices?

Certainly my belief is that we need some amount of difficulty in our lives to help us appreciate the things we should be thankful for. It is from experiencing these difficulties that we can learn to make informed decisions that will influence both our own lives and the lives of others.

The world we live in is malleable; moulded by the collective decisions we make on a daily basis. The choices we make, both good and bad, have consequences beyond the boundaries of our own individual experience. Whilst this is something that has been discussed in religion and philosophy for centuries, my feeling is that as new science emerges, religion struggles to hold onto its validity.

With the supercomplex pace of modern-day life, it’s often difficult for working parents to find time to teach and inspire their children so that they might make the right choices in their own lives. The responsibility of guidance is all too often given to schools and, albeit unintentionally, media, when in my experience the primary goal for both is financial gain in place of what is ethical.

Without religion, school and an ethical media, where then do we receive moral guidance on the choices we make? Who then do we trust to teach our children right from wrong? Who then can we turn to ourselves in our own time of need?

These questions have become the basis for my MA in Creative Media and I am currently producing a 3D animation that aims to encourage others to consider the consequences of their own actions and apply good moral practice in their lives.
